If I am only driving off road and have 3" extra lift is it best to remove the sway bars? Seems they will only limit individual wheel travel.

My rig is offroad 95 percent of the time, I threw both mine away and have no worries when on the street. So with that I'd remove them if it's primarily offroad. What is your rig?

Thanks, I couldn't see a reason to keep them but wanted to ask for another opinion. I've got a 84 Toyota that's bone stock. Just bought 3" over ft. springs and looking at 3000 series ProComp shocks. Will do the rear next. Getting started on this I was surprised at how little I seem to know about 4wd set up. I know I need to check brake line length but with this little lift I don't expect any other issues.

Remove the sway bars. Very few early yotas run sway bars, more so if there is any modifications done to the suspension. If you do run on the street just take it easy and get used to how it drives.
You will find a ton more about the 84 on Toyota specific forums.

Pirate 4X4 (lots of info there on early Toyotas) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/12-toyota-truck-4runner/
You can spend days reading and learning without trial and errors of buying the wrong parts. Lots of info just on those two sites.

The early Toyotas are pretty easy to build up and make a very capable rig out of.
