I was looking for a secure way to stow the fire extinguisher (if you dont have one you should). I came across some nice brackets, but they were expensive at like $60. I built my own for $12. See what you think.

Can it slip out of the hose clamps easy enough, or is there a quick release?

You pull the plastic handle it's called a pop pin. Then you can lift the extinguisher. The clamps never come off. It is a quick release.

Ok I see the slit now. I thought the swivel bolt was in a hole, not a notch on the extinguisher's frame. Cool build!

I did not take any pics of it in progress. Basically I built it out of cardboard to make sure everything would fit. Used the cardboard to draw out the design on some 3/16" plate and used the plasma cutter to cut out the parts. Some grinding and welding and trip to the drill press and there you have it. I got the pop pin at granger for 10 bucks. Nothing really to it. FYI I kept the cardboard template if anyone needs them.

I would cut you some if you like. Marc's cnc would cut them much cleaner though and I'll bet he's planning on cutting some anyway:wiggle:wiggle. But I would be happy to cut them for you, you have to lift the plate though!

Very similar design to the one I have. As you can see in the following pic, there are flat surface mount and cage mount versions available.

Quick Disconnect design with the pull of the rip cord. Mine is very accessible...

EDIT: found the seller.. Defined Engineering.. couldn't read the little emblem on the picture at first.. http://www.definedengineering.com/store.html

4 hose clamps are needed to clamp the mount to the cage and the extinguisher to the mount.

And yes, Defined Engineering is who makes this mount. Didn't realize they were selling them for $70 bucks though. They are a sponsor on my site and sent me one for free...it's good to be the king! :p
