yj thunder is going to be a little different than the cj this one is gonna be kinda like a weekend wheeler jeep that drives on street and maybe able to do some expedition stuff
its a 1990 yj that somebody started to put a 350 in and bought all the parts and never finished it. I found a dana 44 front and a dana 60 rear that im going to put under it. The engine is a really clean 350 from a 1993 to 1996 truck i found a rebuilt 700r4 that is going to replace the 4l60e that was behind it then put a dana 300 behind the 700r4. its gonna roll on uncentered h1s and 37s.

just cleaned the axles and started to tear down the front axle. i also cut all the front suspension brackets in order to get ready to outboard the spings about 1.5 inches on either side.then painted the h1 rims and put one together its NOT gold its a cool metalic copper in all the pics it looks gold

So your going to run spacers to clear the linkage?

basselete
10-01-2012, 10:11 PM

basselete
10-01-2012, 10:55 PM
eventually i might have to run spacers but i was gonna try to do a high steer set up to get the steering out of the way of the h1's then mount the axle and see how much steering i have before the tire hets the leaf springs

why do you do everything the hard way? Quite reinventing the wheel. How are you going to put shackle mounts on that bumper? Also, your ackerman angle can be corrected with the right Arms. Your main thing is going to be wheel movement. I think it will be close but each build seems to be different. Just take your time and do it in a hurry.

basselete

Is the engine in mount? At that angle you better be careful not to mess them up. What did you find out about the transmission working with that engine and FI setup?

basselete
10-25-2012, 07:58 PM
the 4l60e should work with the chevy tpi and its probobly the cheapest option because i cant seem to find a cheap 700r4 and i already have the 4l60e all i need is a computer out of a 90s camero or corvette for the transmission anda speed sensor for it all the work with the tpi setup. i have a deal going with a guy in san antonio for a complete tpi setup with extra stuff in a box that he doesnt know what it is. He is driving and dropping all the stuff at the house either sunday or monday ill know better then

Stouttrout

That does not show anything and what is the problem? Have you though about going with a good quality tire and rim since your going to be using this on the street? Are they hitting the springs?
