    Working on Rusty

I got this 79 CJ5 from a friend. (I'll call him that for now). Since I picked it up I have done the following:

    New Optima battery
New Distributer cap, rotor, wires and plugs
    Changed the oil
    air filter
removed the fuel tank and trashed it-been sitting out for over a year with no cap on it
changed all of the vacuum lines
    rebuilt the carb
    new timing chain
    new radiator and hoses
new performance water pump-waiting on it
    new performance alternator-waiting on it
    new headlight plugs and lights

    New timing chain

    Cover back on

Okay the new timing chain, gears and gasket are on. The new FlowKooler high output water pump and new thermostat are in. The new Powermaster 140/80A alternator and new belt are on. New double core radiator, heater hoses and the lower hose are on. I can't seem to find the correct upper. As soon as I do I'll try to fire it up again.

Found a hose I could modify to make it work. Fired it up and I'm getting way to much fuel. I guess since I re-built the carb I got everything out of adjustment. I need to get someone over here that knows more about carbs than I do. I got a buddy who is coming over to check the timing etc. I'll see what he can do.

I broke down and bought a rebuilt carb from Guaranteed Carburetors. Got it within a week, put it on and the thing runs like a champ. Now to get busy on all of the rotted out lines.
