Replacement CB radio

I wish I had the room for a full size radio, but on the flip side the only time I use mine is on the trails so I don't need any super high performance radio that I can talk to aliens out of this solar system. But if I can find a good quality compact radio I would do it just so I'm not buying radios every other year.

I'm pretty happy with my Uniden PRO520XL. ~$50 and it's small.

If its just for trail use I would get a cheap cobra. Sounds like you don't really need all the extra stuff from a high dollar radio.

I am more than happy to stick with the Cobra18. I really don't need anything fancy, and the 18 is only 6" deep so it fits nice, i don't have the room for a deeper radio. What did he say about it?

As an option, have you looked at any of the hand held CBs? I have an older model of this one and it has worked OK for me.

I hadn't really considered one for two reasons, 1) I like things mounted so they don't move around (turns into bullets). 2) that's another charger I gotta keep up with, or just make sure it has batteries. To me it worth just getting in and when you hit the key it turns on, which is one reason I like the cobra18 it has a constant power wire and a keyed power wire.
