Lmao! I didn't get my first cell phone till I was 26, bout 10 years ago , out of all my cb's I like my cobra 29 ltd classic the best, the ranger has too many knobs , and I just gave away a cobra 19 ultra III it was the weakest cb I have ever owned, on a clear day with a 102" whip I might get a 1/2 mile out with it , the 29 lx LCD I have (which is the weakest one I have now) does on average 9 miles

I just put a 102" steel whip on and talked with cape cod mass a few hours ago on channel 38 lower sideband. Yesterday on my fiberglass whip I was talking with people on the west coast(LA, RENO, MOJAVE DESERT) on the same channel, sounded like they were next to me. The CB Band(11 meters) has been wide open the last few weeks. Makes for something to do when bored or taking a break.

Been catching a lot of skips myself, I heard someone from moab also, along with ok , fl, even one from ny, I can listen but not talk, the only thing that suck is they are on 19, so they walk over most truckers, at least you are off 19, kinda hard to get traffic info, directions, and bear reports when the home bases are on it really pi$$e$ off a lot of truckers, they say that system in the gulf has had local reception all screwed up, but for skips u can't beat it

Ya there is a ton of ground noise on am, especially 19 as it is a very noisy channel. There are so many people using that channel around the US which means a ton of that is getting skipped all around. I can get a few truckers but only if I am near 21. You will find people wanting to make long distance contacts use lower sideband channels 36-40. You will even catch a bunch of hams dialed into those frequencies during the day. It has seemed like the last week the best time is 2pm-4pm. I had some errands to run earlier and talked with someone in la and in ny. Yesterday I talked with ontario canada, I cant remember the last time I got out of the country.

    Replacement CB radio

Let me elaborate, they have a splitter that will allow you to use your CB antenna for your in car stereo, that way you only have to have one antenna, and not a antenna for your stereo and another for your CB.

I have never used or seen a splitter in action, probably a reason for that. wouldnt trust the splitter. Brian you get my message on the cb mount?
