It may be better to engage it in dirt, so u dont put too much of a bind on the drive line on the concrete

Oh yes... Driving anything other than a straight line in 4wd, let alone locked diffs. while on concrete, is an instant recipe for a repair bill.

Thank you all for the helpful tips. I finally got the lockers working. As this jeep had a previous owner there was no way for me to tell how well he maintained everything. I think the lockers may have simply been gummed a bit. After much fooling with I finally got them to fully engage. The only thing left for me to test on my jeep is the removable hard top.
