    84 toyota trans/transfer case removal

I've searched the wide web for an exploded view of the Toyota transmission but still with no luck. I'd like to know what's inside before I start pulling case bolts out. Anyone know how to find that kind of info?

    Thanks, Kerry

If you are pulling just the tcase it's pretty easy.
    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyot...-question.html

pull the shift boot, remove the shifter snap ring, pull out the shifter.

    un-bolt the driveshafts.

    un-screw the spedo cable.

un-plug the 4wd indacator light sensor.

support the t-case with a jack (it's fawkin' heavy)

unbolt the t-case from the tranny, (I think there are 6? bolts)

slide the t-case backwards while supporting it with the jack.

    yer done.

A nice long rachet extension helps for getting at the t-case bolts.

Thanks for the reply but I have the trans assy. out, just curious what end to start disassembling from. I believe there is a broken gear tooth in the transmission. I'll probably split it in the middle and see where to go from there.

That was easy enough. It is the input shaft, has a few missing teeth. Anyone have a line on a good one?

Input shaft for the TC? I have a box of parts I can look through if so.

I think there were a lot of changes in the 84 era, don't know what all interchanges but need a shaft with all the teeth on the gear lol.

If it's a gear driven toy case, R1FA, just about everything will interchange that I have. I will go look this evening. Where are you located?

Sorry only have 1 front output and 2 rear output shafts. No inputs. I could have sworn I had some more parts. Must have given them away.

Thanks for looking Chris. Sorry for the late reply but was out for the weekend. I still need one to re-do the transmission I pulled out but found and installed a complete unit from an 86 model. It all works fine but when changing fluids there was an E clip on the magnetic drain plug on the trans side. It came from a wrecked truck so if it worked well enough to drive before I guess I'll drive it till it acts up--or maybe it will keep going.
I have a used carb coming tomorrow so maybe can give it a workout this weekend.
