    ISO a decent floor jack

OK... so, for those who know me, let the "I told you so"s begin... I've got a very small project I want to do on Lone Runner and so I'm looking for a decent, but not outrageous floor jack. I also have a feeling this will be getting a bit more use down the road, and possibly even on rigs with larger tires & lifts than I have now. I'm finding online prices ranging from $70 to $600 (really?!) Of course - the reviews seems to explain the reason in the price variations. At the moment, I'm rather leaning towards a Hein-Warner 2 ton jack, with a 4.5" - 20" lift range. It's about in the middle of the price range and seems to be well reviewed. But before I drop any coin, I figured I'd get some quality advise/thoughts from the veterans out here. Thoughts? (As I brace for the backlash from folks learning that I'm STARTING to do some of my own work.)

I'd say go 3 and higher. Isn't your rig already near 2 tons stock?

My buddy has a 3 ton jack he left at my house so we can work on my truck and our project car. It works great, but I do wish it was a bit higher. I'll get you the name of it when I get back home. Maybe they make one that has a higher lift range.

Good luck with starting to work on your own rig. You can save a lot of money on labor, and be able to know every inch of it in case something does happen down the road.

The one thing I can tell you is Harbor Freight makes decent floor jacks, combined with mildly priced should give you years of service and come in handy. A 3 ton is under 100$ and can do most things that you need / want to do.

Here is the jack that I've been using for the last year. It's worked out great. I don't have to worry about sudden drops when I turn the handle. It's very controlled.

While browsing the rest of the jacks from HF, there's a 4 ton one with a 20.5" height max

I have two from HF, one needs repairs but still kinda works, the other has an adjustable foot that can go an extra 6 inches up. comes in handy for more lifted vehicles - but they don't sell it anymore.

Thanks all for the input... I just ordered the 4 ton since it had a bit more lift.
