    Cool gpinjason's 01 TJ - aka PondSkum

I had this posted on the other site and TJO, decided to copy it over here... the dates in the posts do not reflect when the work was done, it is the date when I originally posted it on TJO...

I don't really have a lot of actual work in progress pictures up until now, but I can give you a little timeline with pics and how my Jeep has progressed to where it is now, and where I plan to go with it...

Over the past 10 years I've just basically upgraded a little at a time due to money/time restrictions...

I bought it brand new from Ron Carter back in August 2001

About 2 months later, I got some used (almost bald) 32" Mud Country tires from Leo, and mounted them on the factory rims... then I threw on a 3" body lift.. I did manage to win "Most Mud" at the 1st annual Wheelers 4 Wishes Show at San Jacinto Mall in December 2001... This is the best pic I have online at the moment...

Then for Christmas 2001, I got some 33" Thornbirds and some 15x10 chrome wheels... The Thornbirds LOOK awesome, and perform pretty well, but on the road the SUCK!! they scallop really bad, and you cannot keep them balanced...

This is from the 2002 W4W Show

    More to follow...

After the ThornTURDS wore out finally, I bought some Pro-Comp Mud Terrains used, and added some 2" coil springs to lift a little more...

Went through 2 sets of ProComps, then bought 33" BFG MT's.. and painted the fenders and roll cage green...

After several years running that setup with 33's.. Chris (uppidycon) upgraded to his 6" long arm lift, and gave me the springs and control arms from his 4" ProComp short arm lift... I replaced all the bushings, and bought new shocks and a new adjustable track bar and installed the lift, and 36" Iroks...

installed the 4" lift and 36's, but still had factory 3.73 gears... was just barely OK on the street, but after 1 trip to Gilmer, I decided it wasn't gonna cut it... had to use the skinny pedal way to much to get the tires turning... so I installed 4.88's... took a couple weekends to get it knocked out, but got it done!

here's the link to the entire Gear Install Album --> http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...ear%20Install/

had to swap carriers in the rear D44...

    Ring gear comparison...

The front went a lot smoother... I think because I didn't have to change the entire carrier...

Even got the wife to help with this one... LOL... she really did help me.. she torqued down the pinion nut for me...

OK.. so after installing the gears, I made a few trips, and they made a world of difference!! I can cruise the hwy at 70 again... use the cruise control... LOL... Off road I'm able to actually CRAWL up stuff, instead of gassing it...

This past June (2010) we made a trip to Gilmer... and I broke my first axle... driver's side rear... and it was because of a bounce... had I let off the gas in time, it probably wouldn't have happened...

But we got her fixed up and back in action!
