Mine is more of a stealth snorkel just in case was at Shiloh ridge running the trail at night and ran off into a hole and my headlights went underwater well I had a cold air intake and almost hydrolocked my motor so I looked online and the only one that would work was for an fj but it was 300 built mine for less than 30

Thanks it takes 2" pvc pipe, 1 male fitting, lock ring, 2 45's, 1 st 90 , I used permatex to seal everything, then cut a piece of the air intake tube coming from my core support to patch the factory hole in the airbox, just remember to turn the st 90 down a lil bit in the wiper cowl so the rain doesn't get in when I built it I figured if the water got up to my windshield I was screwed anyway lol

If it looks like the pvc starts to brown or melt try a roll of header wrap around it for insulation. It looks awful close to your motor. Even though they're rated to high temps, they'll still warp enough to break a seal. I made a ram air intake on my old van with pvc pipe and pvc hose for my old van with a 305. I'd definitely recommend trying to fit some 3" pipe instead of just 2". Some factory intakes can be up to 5" in diameter, and looking at the K$N cold air intakes, they're straight tubes are a large diameter as well. Relocating the intake is good but if it ends up starving the motor of air you may need to try rerouting to allow bigger plumbing. Mudhug, did you notice any change in performance since the new snorkel?
Mine started small with 2" pipe all the way through but I could tell it was hurting for air.
So then I went to 3" tubing with a 2.5" collector and that helped out immensely. I got about +2mpg and a significant power gain. It's sloppy but it worked well. I would've liked to run a 3" collector but supplies and space were limited. The whole setup cost about $80, not including the wrap which I had lying around. Yes, the scoops are shopvac heads

Nope no performance issues It's been in there for a year, no problems yet , robs the defroster a lil bit but my b2 is 26 yrs old it's 6 lil squirrels are a lil bit tired lol but anyway it's just a lil 2.9l they never had much power to begin with but it came with 205/75/15 tires with 4:10 gears, and now I'm running 33's with the same gears when I upgrade my engine I'll redo it

That's pretty cool. I figured the smaller motors wouldn't need as much as the V8's.
Haven't decided for a 302 or a 4.0 yet
