    Toyota Pickup Solid Axle Swap

Before I post up anything on this SAS, I want to thank my buddies at Protech Automotive in Dripping Springs, TX. My dad has had all the work done on all of his vehicles there. They are a small, family owned business (very involved in the scouting community) that do great work for a great price. I was very lucky to be able to work with the Taddia family after hours when I got out of class. It was a great learning experience and I had a blast trashing my truck's IFS and solid axle swapping it with them. If you are ever in the Austin/Dripping Springs area and need some work done to your daily driver, weekend toy, or full time trail rig, be sure to hit them up.

Pre-SAS I wonder if I can get more flex some how???

    Solution: SAS
    -axle (85 toyota pickup)
-IFS Eliminator Kit (trail-gear w/ 5" leafs and 2" shackle)
-jerry rigged rear lift (3" block, 2" extended shackle, 2" add-a-leaf)

    one thing at a time:
    1st=jerry-rigged rear lift

    IFS removal

These nasty brackets needed to go!

    All the extra crap

With all the extra space, we went ahead and replaced my leaky oil pan gasket

Leaf springs, hanger and shackle welded up and shock hoop ready to go

Axle prep and gusset welded on

Axle bolted up. Damn that thing looks sick!!!!!

Had to stop to put on some extra horns bad choice...they ended up sounding like crap

Still didn't have the extra long front driveshaft. Ended up getting the 12" long spline drive shaft from trail-gear

Finally got her back on her feet, and damn those 31's looked small!!!

Everything put together nice and solid

Of course had to test the new solid front axle with my buddy on the way home that evening

    and then some

    and then some

Finally threw some sexy (and cheap) 37" military goodyear wranglers on there

*******Thank yall for checking out this build thread, and if I forgot to mention anything or if you have any questions, please feel free to ask or shoot me a PM. And thanks again to Protech Automotive and the whole Taddia family for all of their support.*******

Nice job! I did one of those a few years ago for a guy, so I can appreciate the amount of work that it took to install.

they really do turn out well, and there are a lot fewer breakable pieces like the IFS. it really is the way to go
