I say we are a team, Josh is the communications officer for state wide, we need to communicate with Josh on what we want to accomplish. I say take no prisoners! Lets go TX! Let's get Janice and Josh working together as a team effort!

We need 18 members to be a team so if we have less that they are going to add people or merge us with another team. I think we should stay as one team since we don't even have 18 members in the Katy chapter. Our organization is recognized as a team, But for the rodeo I think anyone can form a team. you can also join as an individual.
I'm inquiring about whether we can add members now whom haven't taken the training yet or or if we Register now and then submit a revised roster before the deadline.
Now two quick notes on communications.
1. Cy-Fair CERT has added a new repeater for UHF ham users. It's at West and Barker Cypress but I can hit it with my $50 radio at Katy junior high. I'd like to find out if T/C hams can hit it.
2. They have also released itinerary frequencies on the UHF band. I am already Allowed to use the six frequencies but I am in the process of getting permission for All of us to use these frequencies. these are probably the frequencies they will use during the rodeo, and if we have more radios that are programmable like the $50 one, but we don't have ham users, people without a license can use these frequencies. we can use these frequencies for the rodeo and avoid family band.

Ham isn't too crazy, just a few extra rules. Basically CB with more power, more air wave choices, more radio choices, and the emergency services have repeaters for extending range and to make contact in emergencies regardless of electricity, cell and land line damage
Think of those Motorola radios. They are preprogrammed with frs and have a fixed antenna. Well a ham handheld is similar but mine is 8 times more powerful and it has a removable antenna so you can tinker like we tinker with our jeeps.
Think of the cb. There are radios for ham that look similar and work similar but have 10 times the power.
The rest is details. Ham can be simplex like cb which is super easy where everyone punches in the same frequency like walkie talkies, or duplex for a repeater which means you listen to one channel and transmit on another. The repeater is setup to receive your transmit and transmit your receive.
Ok stopping before I put us all to sleep. Lol.
