Hey guys, Kurt here. Just finished my 6 year stint in the Navy. Was active duty the whole time, selective reserves now. I was an Aviation Electrician's Mate Second Class (E-5)
I deployed to USPACOM (7th Fleet) and USCENTCOM (5th Fleet) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation New Dawn and particiapted in some Red Flag events with Fleet Air Reconnaisance Squadron One (VQ-1) in Whidbey Island Washington.
I also worked at the Fleet Readiness Center Mid Atlantic site Norfolk as an intermediate repair technician, working on circuit cards and such.

    Thanks for the Forum!

Hey this'll be cool to see who all in the club is a vet.

I'm Everett, and have been in the Texas National Guard for over four years now as part of the 36th Infantry. I joined this club back in '09 only months before I deployed to Iraq for 2009, and 2010. Christmas in Kuwait sucks. Then, in October of 2011 I went to Japan for month as part of Orient Shield, a joint forces training operation involving war games between several Japanese units and other UN countries. We were the first nation to ever beat the Japanese OP4 since the beginning of the program. Loads of good stories came out of that one. Now, I'm in college, and working part time, trying to get what I can out of the GI Bill. I'm looking forward to signing a new contract with the Guard in 2014 but I'm looking for something different to do other than Infantry.

In Afghanistan 07/2010-12/2010 FOB hopping with the 4th Electronic Reconnaissance Squadron. I was part of a Launch Recovery Element for the UAV's. Started at Salerno with a move to Sharana. A couple of flights on the "Black Ring" and some convoys to Wazi Kwah. Favorite was Camp Leatherneck.

Did 4years 4months active duty with the 2nd Battalion 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) After 2 deployments to Iraq, to many friends lost and injured to get me to re-up, I joined the guard to finish out my obligatory 8yrs. After 3yrs 6months in the 1st Battalion 141 Infantry Regiment 36 Infantry Division I got out completely. Now I'm a washed up 13F, working as a Security Guard for the Adjutant General's Department at Camp Swift, missing my family.

I pulled 16 years out of somewhere for the Army and the Army reserves as a 89B AMMO guy. I was pretty lucky served 3 years in Germany for the 501st FSB " which was the coolest thing ever" and worked the ASP in Arifjan Kuwait 295th ORD CO. wasn't bad but I'm not complaining" I wound up a SSG and probably should have squeezed out the last 4 yrs. O well! I got my weekends back.
